*Breaking Amish* alum Jeremiah Raber is offering fans an update after he suffered a serious health scare last week.

On Dec. 30, the 45-year-old reality star shared a selfie from his hospital bed, writing that he was "waiting to be life-flighted to another hospital" for emergency care. He explained that due to his blood sugar spiking to 993 — a dangerously high and potentially life-threatening level — he was facing "possible liver failure."

According to the Cleveland Clinic, normal nondiabetic blood sugar levels are often around 100 after fasting, while 126 or above indicates that a person may have diabetes.

Hours later, Raber shared a second TikTok post that showed him being wheeled into a helicopter on a stretcher. On Jan. 1, Raber reposted a comment from someone calling him a "scammer" and claiming that he "deserves" the health scare. He offered no direct response, but accompanied the comment with a short video clip of him waving to the camera from his hospital bed.

The following day, Raber assured fans that he was on the mend after receiving care.

"Huge thank you to all of the people that have been praying for me. I truly appreciate it," Raber wrote in his Jan. 2 post. "I'm doing good and will be out tomorrow!"

The post was met with several celebratory comments wishing Raber well during his recovery.

"Take care of yourself," one fan wrote. "Heal before you [stress] about anything!"

"Sending healing energy," another added.

Raber opened up about his health struggles in March 2024, per *InTouch Weekly*. At the time, he thanked fans on TikTok for donating enough money for him to visit a doctor for his heart problems. The following month, he revealed that he had spent two days in the hospital for heart issues as well as diabetic ketoacidosis, a potentially life-threatening condition that can develop when the body is unable to make enough insulin.

Raber was one of the breakout stars of TLC's *Breaking Amish* when it premiered in 2012. He was the oldest and one of the most rebellious cast members of the docuseries, which followed young Amish and Mennonite people venturing beyond their religious communities to experience life in New York City. After starring in the first two seasons, Raber came back to the franchise for 2014’s *Return to Amish* and remained a core cast member across its seven seasons.**
