Nate Bargatze has become one of America's most beloved comedians. He’s carved a name for himself in the stand-up scene over the last several years, packing the house and breaking attendance records at major venues like Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Known for his clean but relatable jokes, Bargatze has built a comedic style that appeals to the masses.

This spring, Bargatze can be seen in a new kind of performance. The comedian is set to debut his acting career in a new family comedy, The Breadwinner, starringMandy Moore. Bargatze co-wrote the film with Dan Lagana, and also serves as an executive producer.

The trailer for the movie hit YouTube this week:

Admittedly, the story feels a bit familiar: Fans have noted the similarity to the '80s blockbuster, Mr. Mom starring Michael Keaton, as well as 2003's Daddy Day Care, starring Eddie Murphy. Similar as it may be, this relatable family comedy features Bargatze’s character, Nate Wilcox, being challenged with the task of solo parenting for a month. Moore is cast as his wife, Katie Wilcox, who strikes a deal with Shark, Lori Greiner, on the hit TV show Shark Tank, sending her on an extended business trip.

Clips from the movie include Sharks, Kevin O'Leary and Mark Cuban reprimanding a donut yielding Bargatze as he stuffs his face during his wife’s biggest moment of her life. ā€œThere wasn’t a trash can,ā€ his character states, shoving the final piece of pastry in his mouth.

The trailer teases some hilarious scenes as Bargatze attempts to raise the couple’s three daughters on his own for a month. ā€œYou don’t know where our school is?ā€ One of the girls asks, as another declares, "I'm calling mom," before a panicked Bargatze drives the car into a roadside mailbox.

It’s all too relatable to parents everywhere. While traditional gender roles have shifted significantly in our society, there is still a stereotypical association that moms hold it all together while dads are known for the much-needed assists and following directives from the mom.

Bargatze has taken to social media to share his excitement for this career shift.

Captioning his post with "It's fine. Everything's fine," the chaotic scene featured on the movie poster shows everything but things being fine.

Messages of support are pouring in from fans of Bargatze and Moore:

Football legend, Tim Tebow shared his thoughts: "Love it! Do you think this will help me be better girl dad?"

Lori Greiner herself said, "So loved working on this movie more than just a beat, my acting debut has arrived lol - @natebargatze@mandymooremm & the whole team were amazing & so fun to work with! It’s so incredibly funny! Can’t wait for it to come out! šŸ˜‚ā¤ļø"

Other comments flooded the post with "can't wait," "this is great," "congratulations," and similar sentiments. One commentator even said that Nate Bargatze landing this role feels like someone you knew from high school getting their big break.

The Breadwinner is set to release in theaters on March 13, 2026.
