Matt and Abby Howard addressed backlash over a viral podcast clip about baby names and clarified their stance
The couple shared they aren't offended by criticism of their son's name Griffin, which they personally love
They emphasized that baby name preferences are subjective and not meant to be a judgment on others
Matt and Abby Howard are sharing why they're okay if you don't like the name they chose for their baby.
During this week's episode of the Unplanned Podcast, the couple, who is currently expecting their fourth baby, shared that they'd recently gotten in some hot water after a clip from a previous episode went viral.
"We got in trouble. Guys, there was a clip of our podcast where it's about baby names being out of control, and there were people that got upset," said Matt. "So I'm sorry."

"If we don't like your baby's name, you don't have to like our baby's name. We don't need to tell each other. But I guess you are listening to our podcast, so you're going to hear us say if we don't like your baby's name," he continued.
Abby went on to clarify that it wasn't their comments that got people upset.
"And here's the other thing, too. When people got really mad at us, about that..." Abby said, trailing off.

"It was about someone that commented on the video that we posted, but it wasn't our comment. And then we also never saw the comment, and it got a lot of likes, not by us," Matt explained.
Abby then said that she brought up the topic because people were telling her how much they hated the name Griffin, which is the name of their older son.
"This is so rabbit hole-y. But what I was going to say is that a bunch of people retaliated and told us that they hated the name Griffin. And do you know how much that offended me?" asked Abby. "Zero. Because I like the name Griffin."
"Zero. I love the name Griffin. If you don't like the name Griffin, something's wrong with you," joked Matt.
"That's totally fine! No," laughed Abby at her husband's response. "No, no. That's the opposite of what we're saying. It's not a judgment call on them. It's called personal preference."
"I just think that they're silly for not liking the name Griffin. I think it's the best name, personally," said Matt.
