Neil Patrick Harris has revealed what his 15-year-old daughter asked for this Christmas — and the steep price that came with it
Despite the gift coasting $2,000, Harris said his biggest problem is that "every two or three days, she wants something new"
“By the time late December rolls around, I don’t know where that spinning wheel is gonna wind up,” he said
Neil Patrick Harris shared his daughter’s Christmas wish — and the steep price that came with it.
The How I Met Your Mother star, 52, revealed that his 15-year-old daughter, Harper Grace, recently caught him off guard with her holiday request.
“She sends us a link to a Chanel purse — a vintage Chanel purse,” Harris, who shares Harper and twin son Gideon Scott with his husband, David Burtka, told Parade in an interview published on Sunday, Dec. 21. “[She said], ‘Boy, this is a great price, $2,000. Normally it’s more than that.’ ”

While the price raised eyebrows, Harris said that wasn’t the biggest issue. “She has really good taste in clothes and shoes, and everything is very expensive. That’s not the problem,” he explained. “The problem is every two or three days, she wants something new.”
Before moving forward with the purchase, which, at the time of the interview, was still uncertain, Harris ensured this was what his daughter really wanted. “I’m like, ‘What? A $2,000 purse you want? But wait, this is just today because yesterday you wanted these crazy shoes and before that you wanted some dress,” he recalled. “So I’m not getting you all these things.”
Despite the challenge of shopping for his daughter — “By the time late December rolls around, I don’t know where that spinning wheel is gonna wind up,” he quipped — Harris prides himself on being easy to shop for.
“I have a shared note and as I’m online looking at things that I want [I add them],” he said. “I’m easy because I like puzzles, games, magic things, cocktail glasses and stirrers, and I just keep adding to the shared list with the intention that I don’t want everything on the list. I do so many things that I forget what I put on them. So then when I open presents, I’m thrilled.”

Though the presents will be plentiful, Harris and his family are most looking forward to a “chill” holiday season. “Both our parents come into town right before Christmas. We have both our families go out to dinner and we do gifts, and all of that,” Burtka, 50, told PEOPLE earlier in December about his family’s plans for the holidays. “Then we'll go out east to our place there and spend the two weeks of holiday break just chilling out."
Harris, who finished his run on Broadway in the play ART on Sunday, “really wants to just do nothing,” the chef shared. "It'll be nice just to not do anything and have a very quiet New Year's, and just be together and cook," he said. "My kids want to learn how to make some stuff. We'll just chill, watch movies and walk the dogs. It'll be really nice."
