Pluribus has already been renewed for a second season

Warning: Spoilers ahead for the season 1 finale of Pluribus!

Since the startling season 1 premiere, when most of the Earth's population was turned into a collective hive mind, Pluribus kept viewers guessing with its wild premise.

The twists and turns didn't stop throughout the first installment, with one of the few remaining unturned humans, Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn), ultimately growing close to one of the Others, Zosia (Karolina Wydra).

Meanwhile, a man named Manousos Oviedo (Carlos-Manuel Vesga), a fellow unturned human, embarked on a trip from Paraguay to Albuquerque, N.M., to meet with Carol, and try to save the world.

In the penultimate episode, Carol and Zosia share a passionate kiss, but there were more surprising developments in the final episode, including an atomic bomb.

In a December 2025 Deadline interview, Seehorn teased that the finale is "bananas. The same as the first episode."

"I have virtually the same reaction to all of them. I’m like, 'What!?' Then I’m like, 'Holy crap. All right, let’s go,' " she said.

Here's how the season 1 finale of Pluribus ended, including if Carol was able to change the world back to how it was before.

How does Pluribus season 1 end?

Season 1 of Pluribus ends with Carol going on a romantic getaway with Zosia, but during their time away Carol learns that the Others are still trying to complete their mission, and turn everyone on Earth into a member of the hive mind.

After the reveal of the Others' plan, Zosia brings Carol back home to Albuquerque. They arrive at the cul-de-sac via helicopter with a giant crate.

While Zosia flies off, Carol sees Manousos, who heard the helicopter. "You win. We save the world," she tells him.

Confused, Manousos asks her, "Carol Sturka, what is this?"

"Atom bomb," she replies before walking into her house.

Do Carol and Manousos meet?

Yes, Carol and Manousos finally meet in the Pluribus season 1 finale.

Their initial encounter is contentious since Carol has started warming up to Zosia, thinking the Others might not be so bad, while Menousos still does not trust those who have become part of the "joining."

"My name is Manousos Oviedo. I am not one of them. I wish to save the world," he tells Carol upon his arrival at her house.

Since Menousos mostly speaks Spanish, the two communicate through a phone translator. Their languages aren't the only barrier, as they struggle to see eye-to-eye on how to fix their current situation.

But with the arrival of Carol and her bomb at the end of the episode, it seems that she is willing to work alongside Manousos to make things right again.

What happens to Zosia?

After sharing a kiss in episode 8, Carol and Zosia go off and travel together in the season finale.

During their trip, Carol is brought back to reality when she learns of the Others' active plan to change her into one of the hive mind members.

Later, Zosia takes Carol home in a helicopter, accompanied by a piece of cargo. Afterward, Carol watches Zosia leave, knowing that she must put aside her feelings to save humanity.

Is Carol turned into an Other?

Apple TV

'Pluribus.'

No, Carol is not turned into an Other — yet.

Earlier in the season, it was revealed that in order for the Others to take over Carol's mind and body, they would need access to her stem cells. After this discovery, Carol tells them she does not consent to them obtaining her stem cells.

In the finale, Carol finds out that the Others are planning to turn the eggs she froze years ago into stem cells, so they can add her to the "joining."

Zosia reveals they are working on it, but it takes time. She tells Carol that she has "a month, hopefully no more than two or three," before they will be able to turn her.

Does Carol turn the world back to normal?

Apple TV

'Pluribus.'

By the end of Pluribus season 1, Carol is not able to change the world back to how it was before, but it seems she has some plan, or at least the makings of one.

In the final minutes of the episode, it is revealed that Carol has brought home an atom bomb, setting up a potentially explosive second season.

Carol's idea for the bomb is not explained, but she isn't the only one with a plan. Earlier in the finale, Menousos tells Carol, "You were right. I think there's a way to put things back in their place. Come on, now the work begins."

So, it sounds like neither one has given up on humanity.
